Coleshill Infant School

The Village school is situated in the small, friendly village of Coleshill, close to Amersham.

Founded in 1847, the school is a Voluntary Controlled Church School in the Parish of St. Mary’s, Amersham. The spacious building is set in its own grounds, consisting of a large playground and gardens. A recent extension to the school has added additional education space. The school is well equipped with latest information technology and has several well used PC’s.

The school is now operating at full capacity with 35 pupils and has a waiting list.

The aim of the school is to foster, in a caring environment, the all round development of each child, encouraging at the same time self- confidence, self-discipline, responsibility and courtesy. Children follow a graded reading scheme and care is taken to hear each child read daily.

The mathematics curriculum is balanced and varied, and every opportunity is taken to practise the skills the children have learnt. The curriculum includes science, history, geography, music, art, design and technology, information technology, physical education and religious education. Children with special needs are given individual support.

The Head Teacher - Mrs. Jenny Earp brings a wealth of experience from her previous teaching posts. Despite the demands of juggling family life with a very busy head teacher's existence, Jenny looks forward to leading the School into the 21st Century. Click here to email the Head Teacher

School News
This term we have enjoyed several trips, including a whole school visit to the National Gallery in London. Following the visit, the older children produced excellent art work based on Turner’s ‘Fighting Temeraire’. The Reception class worked on a picture, inspired by the painting ‘Orpheus’ by Roelandt Savery. Another recent trip was to the Wycombe Swan Theatre to see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Cats‘, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
The May Fayre was once again a great success. We managed to dodge the showers and the children had a very happy time. Thank you to everyone who helped or attended and congratulations to all our raffle prize winners. This year over £2,000 was raised at the event, so well done to everyone. Our library has been re-stocked with a collection of new hardback books.

Mrs. Valentine, our Chairman of Governors, has asked me to write a few words about the governors at our school. We have nine school governors who meet approximately six times annually. We have finance, personnel and curriculum committees, who meet every term to discuss issues pertaining to school life, to review policies and ensure the school is fulfilling its statutory duties. The role of the governors is strategic and they share responsibility for the management of the school. They are also a link between the community and parents. Rosemary would be happy to talk to anyone who shows an interest in becoming a governor.

Our summer production this year is ‘Tattybogle’, a musical based on the story of the same name about a happy scarecrow. We would love to have an audience at our dress rehearsal on Monday, July 14th at 11.00 a.m. Do please come along if you are free that morning.
The end of term leavers’ service takes place at All Saints' Church on Wednesday, July 23rd, at 11.00 a.m. to which our friends in the village are also warmly invited. Thank you to everyone in the village who has supported the school this year.
