Village Hall
The Village hall
situated in the centre of the Village is a registered charity, which
acts as a meeting place for most Village activities. The hall well
equipped and maintained to a high standard. Capable of seating 120
comfortably, theatre style or at tables of eight. The hall has central heating and air conditioning for
guaranteed comfort at any time of year. There is a fully equipped
stage and extensive kitchen and bar area. The hall
also has a smaller committee room with adjoining kitchenette.
Village Hall News
The AGM of the Village Hall took place on the 17th April 2009.
Dick Ware was re-elected Chairman, John Ullman as Treasurer and
David Smith, Secretary.
It is always good to see our President, Denis Hall attend our
meeting. He was Chairman of the Management Committee that led the
whole process of fund raising and building of our present Hall.
The Hall, now 27 years old, has been used for both happy and sad
occasions in the Village during that time. Although used by the
Church, School and W.I. regularly, it does need more support in
order to maintain the high standard of appearance and maintenance.
The accounts showed a gloomy picture with revenue from hiring down
20% last year and it is not expected to increase in 2009. Any non
essential improvements have been put on hold for the time being
until bookings improve.
If you are not familiar with the Hall please ask me to show you what
it has to offer and to everyone in the Village please help to
promote it by mentioning it to your friends and colleagues as a Hall
suitable for social and fitness activity
A photograph was taken at the Harvest Supper in October 2006 by
John Jefford and kindly given to the Village hall.
It has now been
framed together with the Harvest Supper photograph taken in 1937.
A disabled ramp at the entrance to the Hall has recently been
built. It is hoped this will make it easier for wheelchair users,
parents with pushchairs and hirers off loading equipment to gain
access.
The Hall will has a Premises Licence
which allows the Hall to show films and plays, have indoor sporting
events and supply alcohol.
Alcohol can be sold in the Hall, Monday to Saturday until 23.30 and
Sunday 22.30, if necessary arrangements have been made with the
Designated premises Supervisor.
