Notelets

Finally, we have produced some very attractive notelets based on the original posters that our late President Ewart Smith made for Spring talks in years gone by. A set of 6 different designs is available for only £3.50, and all profits will go to his favourite charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care.

About the Society

The Horticultural Society came into existence at the end of World War II and free membership is automatic for all residents of Coleshill.

A full calendar of activities is held each year. The Village Horticultural Show is the main annual event. Held every year in the Village Hall in September Everyone is encouraged to enter at least one class and this may be in the flowers, fruit or vegetable sections, cookery, photography, craft or flower arranging. The children's sections are particularly enjoyable and the most competitive section is the rock cakes made by men, unaided! There are cups and small cash prizes to be won but the emphasis is on fun and, if you haven't entered before, do have a go. Like the Village Fete, the Show has become one of the traditional calendar dates in Coleshill

I’d firstly like to remind everyone that all residents of Coleshill are automatically members of the society, and we welcome your participation in all our events.

Horticultural Society Committee

The committee comprises John Jefford, Carol McCulloch, Colin Sach, John Savory, Susan and David Smith, and Sue Windsor. Colin and David have nobly agreed to be our Treasurer and Secretary, and John (Savory) is kindly giving me the benefits of his wisdom and experience - as well as a great deal of practical support - in getting the Village Show on the road for September 4th.

The committee have lots of other ideas that we’ll be working on during the autumn once the show is over – so watch this space!

Wishing you all good gardening weather, and good weather in which to enjoy your gardens.
